Abstract
Nuclear medicine is a branch of medical diagnosis that uses a radioactive tracer to detect the morphological dysfunctions of organs. Nuclear medicine uses Technetitum-99m which is eluted from the Molybdenum Generator. During the elution the technetium from the generators is molybdenum is sometimes eluted with technetium-99m. The content of molybdenum with eluted Technetium-99m may result in compromised image quality and higher patient radiation dose. The measurement of molybdenum content is called the Moly-breakthrough Test (MBT). The study was conducted in Atomic Energy Cancer Hospital, Bannu to report MBT data from 10 years performed at the institute. The data was collected using a dose calibrator (CRC-25R) and standard moly canister for every elute of the moly generator. The data was recorded and analyzed using standard data analysis methods. The data analysis showed that the molybdenum contents were below the internationally recommended limits i.e. 0.15 (μCi of 99Mo /mCi 99mTc). The mean value for MBT was 0.018±0.023 (μCi of 99Mo /mCi 99mTc). with a standard mean error of 0.006%.

Key words: Molybdenum, Technetium-99m, Moly-breakthrough Test, dose calibrator
